Key to Happiness

Recently, the world’s longest study on the keys to human happiness ended its first research phase after approximately 85 years. This research is known as the Harvard Study of Adult Development and revealed some fascinating findings about what makes a good life. One of the most important findings from this research is that strong relationships are fundamental to our health and happiness. In order to maintain these strong relationships we need to actively work on them. Robert Waldinger, program director, describes this as needing to maintain our “social fitness”, and suggests that in order to keep vibrant social networks we must make an effort to connect with people. Feel free to watch the below Ted talk from Robert if you want to learn more about this research and how to maximise the benefits of your social connections!
